Wheatfield with Crows
In this painting you see in Van Gogh’s artwork the effects
of his schizophrenia and how art in of itself is an expression of emotion and
feeling opposed to a simple creation of the mind. While I feel there may be no
religious or spiritual significance in this piece of art it does show the
deterioration of an artist. What once used to be full, wide and curvaceous
strokes are now short, quick and choppy strokes which I feel conveys a specific
time stamp of Van Gogh’s life through his art. Seeing the painting you can feel
the change in thought processes and motivations for creating such canvases without
knowing directly what it felt like to be Vincent van Gogh. Even though the
insanity begins to seep through the lines in this painting I do enjoy it and
enjoy how it reads like a book.
